Over the past 20 years, there have been nearly a dozen deaths that have occurred along this stretch of Brea Canyon Road. The road is somewhat winding and is extremely dark at night. Many witnesses have claimed to see "phantom hitchhikers" and other eerie phenomena in the area during the night.

The ghostly girl that is said to haunt this area is that of a girl who was killed in a car accident nearby. She is said to appear along the road after midnight. Stories say that if you give her a ride, she will eventually vanish from your car. And if you decide not to give her a ride, it has been said that she will sit on your car hood and try to cause an accident.

Stories ay that if you are on this road at night, a ghostly woman walks along the side of the road. As you drive past her, she vanishes. One report states that a motorcyclist was thrown off his bike by something unseen, blacked out and woke up to see a woman with black hair standing over him. When he blinked, she was gone.

The Georgia Pacific Haul Road Bridge in Fort Bragg, also known as the Noyo River Bridge, is believed to be haunted by a man that was attacked on the bridge. The man had been murdered, and his body was left hanging from a tree. His spirit has been known to push people and scratch them. Locals have reported that their dogs whimper when around the bridge and try to get away from the area.

Some that have driven along this road at night have claimed to see a woman in white standing at the side of the road. After the woman is seen, folks have looked in their rear-view mirror to find her sitting in their car's back seat. A Native American girl's apparition has also been spotted along this road.
