Stories say there have been a number of strange things to happen nearby this bridge, which may be why many believe it is haunted. A small wagon train was demolished during the California Gold Rush and in the 1900's, three pairs of teens disappeared from their prom at the school that was built nearby. Their bodies later turned up drowned in the river.
