CaliforniaHauntedHouses.com recently sat down with Briana of Scare Valley Farms Halloween Haunt, to discuss what's new at the attraction for the 2018 Halloween Season! Located in Big Bear City, this haunt is sure to get your heart pounding and your blood flowing! Read below to find out what's in store for this year.
What's new at Scare Valley Farms Halloween Haunt for 2018? Do you have any new rides, attractions, or special features that Haunt Seekers should know about?
We've expanded from a terrifying haunted hay ride to a total haunt experience. We've partnered with big name haunt producers to build out our 30 acres into the stuff of nightmares. Using the creepy theme of the early 1900s, we've got something for everyone from haunted cemeteries to skin-crawling carnival barns to a full on slaughterhouse.
What are you most excited about for the 2018 Halloween Season?
Guests love the expanded format and have been giving us rave reviews. We are excited when we hear lots of screaming... and we definitely are this year!
What differentiates Scare Valley Farms Halloween Haunt from other local haunts in California?
Location! Having a 30-acre farm in the mountains gives us an environment that's naturally frightening. We also have a lot of surprises lurking around every turn.
How long has Scare Valley Farms Halloween Haunt been in business? Can you tell us a bit more about Scare Valley Farms Halloween Haunt's history?
This is our second year. Last year we opened up a haunted hayride and were surprised to be sold out every night in mid-to-late October. This year, knowing there's a demand for a world-class haunt in Big Bear, we've invested a lot into the setting, the actors, and the promotions to put us on the map of must-see haunts.
What's your favorite experience since opening Scare Valley Farms Halloween Haunt?
We love hearing people say how surprised they are about how well done our haunt is. Being fairly new to the haunt scene, folks don't seem to expect such a great experience in only our second year. Those comments make us excited about this season and the future.
How long is a typical haunt experience at Scare Valley Farms Halloween Haunt from start to finish?
Most guests spend about an hour with us. The hayride itself is about 25 minutes. We also have our other attractions and a live execution show.
On a scale from 1 to 10, how scary would you say Scare Valley Farms Halloween Haunt is? Why?
9. There's always room for improvement. But, having been designed by Halloween fanatics with a high tolerance for fear, we're definitely catering to the things that terrify people the most. When you're out in our pitch dark acreage, with no idea what's coming at you, you can't help but be scared.
Does Scare Valley Farms Halloween Haunt's property have any real haunted history? Do you have a spooky encounter you'd like to share?
We wish!
What inspired you to open up a haunted attraction? What's your favorite part of the business?
We are passionate about Halloween. Before having the Farm, our owners would build their own home-based haunts every year. We love collecting screams.
How has new technology (i.e. animatronics, special props, etc) helped you to enhance Scare Valley Farms Halloween Haunt?
Sound effects, lighting, and fog are all part of the experience. Nothing like squealing pigs and chainsaws to get you going. We've also had our zone soundtracks professionally designed to add to the ambiance.
Can Scare Valley Farms Halloween Haunt accommodate large groups? How many people can experience Scare Valley Farms Halloween Haunt together as a group?
We can accommodate around 25 people on a single hayride, but certainly could work with larger groups. The more advance notice, the better!
Does Scare Valley Farms Halloween Haunt offer any special deals, discounts, or coupons?
Guests of Big Bear Vacations get to visit Scare Valley Farms for free. We've also got promotions with Travel Zoo and Big Bear Trolley.
